There was a warmth in the air. A smell of the forest and she could hear water falling. Her eyes gently opened. She could see tall trees with sunlight shining through. Birds were singing it was beautiful. Then she heard a familiar voice saying ” Hello Maye, it’s nice to see you back in the land of the living.”
Maye smiled and looked around. “Where am I?” she asked. It was Nunnani’s voice she could hear. “How do you feel Maye?” she asks her.
“I’m not sure,” said Maye sitting up. “What happened? Why aren’t we on the ship? Where’s my mother and father?” – “Maye my dear Maye. I’ll answer all your questions soon. You’ve been through a lot. Let’s take this one step at a time.”
“Firstly you must eat some food. You have been sleeping for a long time. Your body needs time to recover. You have healed very well so far.” Nunnani said gently. “I will tell you this you are safe and very much alive. I rescued you from the sea. The ship we were on was hit by a whale and it has sunk.” You were on the brink of death when I found you.” Maye became upset. “Where are my mother, father and brother? “Did they all die?” – Maye started to cry.
Nunnani gently wiped away her tears. “Don’t cry my child your family are all alive. We will find them in time.” Then gave a reassuring smile. Maye had always trusted Nunnani. She always felt safe in her presence.
“What would you like to eat Maye?” “I would love some eggs, bacon and milk, please” she replied. – “Then that’s what you shall have” replied Nunnani she then disappeared.
All alone Maye didn’t feel frightened at all. This place felt very familiar as she looked around she could hear the most beautiful singing. She was intrigued to find out who it was, but her little body was still very weak and it hurt to stand up. So she laid back down and closed her little eyes.
Nunnani returned with her food and milk. “Maye,” she said in her gentle voice. Maye could smell the eggs and bacon. Hmmm, it smelt good! She sat up and started to eat. “Thank you Nunnani this is lovely.” She ate until she was full. “Who’s that singing Maye asked?” Her voice is like yours. “She is just like me Nunnani replied.”
“You’ll have a chance to see her before we leave.” – Maye smiled. She was full and felt very tired so she laid down and rested whilst listening to the beautiful angelic voice singing in the distance
Feeling warm and safe
